11/26/2019 Music recording with Baba Israel and Grace Galu

Building on the prior two music sessions: students review lyrics created with Grace Galu and create original beats/track with Baba Israel to integrate lyrics and tracks to create a final recording of their collectively created song.

11/21/2019 Visiting the Poster Museum through a Guided Tour

Students visit the The Poster House, for two exhibits, Baptized by Beef Cake: Hand Painted Movie Posters From Ghana and 20/20 Insights: Posters from the 2017 Womens March. Guided tour and facilitation provided by Sierra Van Ryck deGroot, director of education programs. Students engage in a workshop to create group images drawn on the walls of the museum workshop.

With teaching artist Angel Lopez students utilize the iconography of basic shapes and music lyrics to create posters with their own unique design and messages they are personally invested in.

Off site field trip visit to a cultural community anchor, Angelika Film Center to attend a screening of the film Harriet, biography pic of the historical accounts of abolitionist, Harriet Tubman.
